vs Queens Park Ladies (12 Oct 2024)

Back on the road again this week for our U16s against an unknown Queens Park Ladies team for our first game of the season in the JPL League.

QPL started strongly and straight away we knew we were in for a competitive match. KTL calmed any nerves with an early goal from Alaiya B, followed by a second for Alaiya just seconds before the half-time whistle seeing us go into the HT break with a 2 nil lead.

QPL continued to battle hard but Keynsham remained in control and secured a third goal from Tilly not long into the second half. QPL nipped a goal in the last 20-minutes with a great strike that saw the game end in a 3-1 win for KTL.

Player of the match went to Captain, Freya E for a strong and composed defensive performance.

vs Plymouth Argyle (05 Oct 2024)

The U16s were on the road this week to face a strong Plymouth Argyle team in the JPL.

After the first 20 minutes we found ourselves 1 nil down after a lucky goal for Plymouth in the opening minutes of the match. KTL recovered well and went into the second quarter just one goal down. Plymouth converted another 2 goals but KTL weren't giving up easily with a goal from Tilly W to keep us in the match at 3-1 at half time.

Plymouth took another chance during the opening 20-minutes of the second half to take it to 4-1 for the home side and an early second goal for Tilly W in the final quarter took the match to 4-2 with just 15 minutes left on the clock. The U16s created lots of chances but Plymouth punished our mistakes and bagged a further three goals in the final quarter making it 7-2 at the final whistle. The first defeat of the season but we go again next week away to Queens Park Ladies.

Our players our the match were Ruby H and Skye C for their strength and determination throughout the match.

vs Weston-Super-Mare (28 Sep 2024)

We welcomed this week’s opponents Weston-Super-Mare to the AJN Stadium, which we knew would be a well contested battle between two well-matched teams.

The game play was end-to-end with both goal keepers being the deciding factor in 2-2 draw with some fantastic saves that kept both teams in the game.

W-S-M took the lead first with KTL U16s regaining control after a first half equaliser from Alaiya B and then taking the lead in the second half with well finished goal from Izzy K. A late equaliser for W-S-M saw the game end in a 2-2.

Players of the match were awarded to well deserved Morgan H and Izzy K.

vs Bridgwater (21 Sep 2024)

This week the U16s were on the road to Bridgwater in the JPL Cup.

The starting XI got off to a comfortable start with Bella E opening the goals for KTL from a well delivered Rose T corner and was quickly followed by 2 classic goals from Alaiya B.

Bridgwater got their one and only goal of the match on the break down the left. But control was quickly restored with goals from Izzy K and another 2 for Alaiya, taking the score to 1-6 before the halftime break.

The second half started brightly with an early goal from Ruby H; one of many goals from corners for KTL with the U16s making the most of the set pieces. Goal number 8 was a perfectly placed tap in from Skye C followed by a second half hat-trick for Lauren H and a 25 yard screamer from Immi F, taking the games tally to 1-12 by the final whistle.

A dominant performance from start to finish secured the win for the first away game of the season for the U16s. Pressing high up the pitch prevented the opposition playing out from the back, coupled with a well organised midfield and a calm defence made it 3 wins from 3.

This week’s POM was award to a very deserving Alaiya B for no less than 4 well taken goals under pressure and 100% work rate.

vs Exeter City (08 Sep 2024)

We welcomed Exeter City to the AJN, we weren’t sure what the opposition was like as we haven’t played them before but we knew it wasn’t going to be an easy game.

The first 20 minutes was end to end, Skye C putting us 1 nil up within 2 minutes to then concede 1 minute later. Tia M then scored a cracking header from a corner 3 minutes later, Skye C slotted it home once again making it 3-1, only 6 minutes in to the game.

More goals followed with fantastic link up play throughout the team, with Keynsham becoming more and more dominant as the game went on. Goals from Tilly W, Rose Thompson and Renee M saw us finish with a 7-2 win.

Player of the Match defender Ellie J, cool calm and collected.

vs Yeovil Town U16's (07 Sep 2024)

Our JPL season started last weekend with a visit from Yeovil town U16’s, we knew it was going to be a tough start to the season as we only managed to get 2 pre season Friendly's in due to cancellations, so we new match fitness wasn’t going to be what it should be.

We started slow and conceded early after an OG from a corner, that was set to be the only opportunity Yeovil were to get from the game as the girls woke up and the goals started coming with 6 different players all getting on the score sheet, full time 6-1.

Player of the Match central midfielder Ruby H with a box to box performance.
