Keynsham are still giving this a go - but it’s just breaking down in the final third. Angel drives forward and shoots, but the keeper is able to claim.

LUCKLESS KEYNSHAM RUE RUSTINESS

KEYNSHAM DEVS travelled east on the M4 to visit Swindon Town - a third meeting between the sides this season, which had seen two previously close fought games.

Preparation for the fixture had been less than ideal - with confirmation that the game was going ahead only received at 9:30 this morning & Keynsham having not played for several weeks!

The grass pitch - was then deemed unplayable - as there were several holes across the pitch, that would’ve caused more than concern for player welfare.

Luckily an adjacent 3G pitch became available before KO - so the game was moved to that - not sure why it wasn’t just booked instead of the grass pitch, but hey ho.

Keynsham lost Lily T in the warm up - so started with Chloe in goal - Liv, Mandy, Tilly and Ella in defence, the returning Ruby (after an 8 week injury layoff due to concussion and then match postponements!) was CDM, Jessie & Angel CAM, with Maddie, Jenna and Alice in attack.

Loz, Lainey, Meg & Nicky provided the impact from the bench.

Keynsham made a bright start (despite this being their first game in 5 weeks) with a couple of thru balls almost finding Jenna.

At the other end, Chloe showed great hands from a cross and then a Swindon shot.

Liv great feet and pass almost found Jenna again.

The wind was causing havoc and seemed to be favouring Swindon more than Keynsham.

Tilly diverted a cross just wide of her post for a corner - which Keynsham cleared.

Jenna battling hard - almost stole the ball high up, but eventually lost out to three Swindon players.

The game was evenly contested in the opening exchanges - Mandy put in a couple of trademark challenges.

Jessie Angel and Ruby were battling for control of the midfield.

Chloe saved a freekick - after Liv (battling well) was unfortunate to foul.

Jessie driving run almost opened nicely up to feed Jenna but she got crowded out.

Maddie excellent ball just evaded Jessie’s burst into the box.

Keynsham were just lacking that final piece / killer pass.

20 mins - Another Mandy sliding challenge was this time adjudged to have fouled - harsh - and from the freekick Swindon play a nice cross and apply a good finish. (1-0)

Soon-after 1 becomes 2 - when a Swindon player is quick to nip in and head in - a deflected cross which fell favourably. (2-0)

Keynsham aren’t giving this up just yet -
Alice with a great charging run makes superb ground - she finds Angel - but her pass to Maddie is just too hard and runs away and out of play.

It’s just not happening for Keynsham - Alice slips when she is about to shoot.

27 mins - Ruby for Meg - Ruby feeling the effects of a kick on the Achilles

Meg is straight into the action and some nice play - sees Jessie fire a great effort just wide!

Keynsham are causing themselves problems - Chloe makes a great save after Keynsham struggled to clear and the ball again fell nicely for Swindon.

Jenna great hold up play almost finds Jessie.

Keynsham are battling hard, but it’s just not happening - perhaps match rustiness - Liv twice produces some great defending.

Right on half time - Angel fires an effort on target on her weaker foot.

HT: SWINDON DEV 2 vs KEYNSHAM DEVS 0

The half time team talk centred around trying to up the quality - there had been lots of misplaced passes and we’d actually caused a lot of our own problems with some of our play.

Swindon forced an early corner - which Keynsham headed clear - only to see a Swindon player run superbly onto the bouncing ball and hit a ferocious strike into the top corner - a great goal to be fair - and one that no keeper in the world would’ve had a chance of saving. (3-0)

The third goal seems to have knocked Keynsham’s confidence  - Chloe is forced into making a great save down by her post.

Keynsham regather themselves and go again - Jenna and Alice with a great break - but Swindon fortunately clear as Alice looks to feed Maddie!

Swindon hit the bar from distance - but Tilly Ella Mandy & Liv are standing up well to the Swindon attacks.

Maddie almost fed Jenna - as the game continues in a similar vein - with Keynsham just not able to find THAT telling pass.

62 subs - Loz, Lainey & Nicky join the action for Angel, Maddie and Tilly - which sees Meg drop into CB alongside Mandy.

Meg brilliant pinch and driving run forward feeds Alice - who races forward and tries to pick out Nicky - but a Swindon player just managed to get a toe on it and takes the sting out of Nicky’s shot.

73 - Mandy for Ruby

75 mins - Swindon capitalise when Keynsham get in a tangle playing out, and a Swindon player nips in to square for her teammate to smash past the hapless Chloe. (4-0)

78 - Maddie for Liv

Keynsham’s midfield is working hard - but Swindon still have the upper hand.

80 - Swindon again benefit from Keynsham getting in a tangle at the back (5-0)

Lainey & Ella link up well with Lainey seeing her pass into Jenna just picked off.

Jenna is then unlucky as she beats the Swindon keeper to a bouncing ball - but - in a moment that typifies Keynsham lack of luck - the ball rolls agonisingly wide of the open goal.
